The world's oceans face a growing threat: the plastic invasion. Unfortunately, the beaches of Biscarrosse are not spared from this scourge. In this article, we will examine the extent of plastic pollution in our oceans and the concrete actions we can take to protect our beautiful coastal town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plastic pollution, a silent tragedy that threatens <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The most common types of plastic waste in the environment are cigarette butts, plastic bottles, bottle caps, plastic bags, and straws. This waste is often carried by rivers to the seabed. It is important to emphasize that marine debris and plastic pollution are entirely caused by humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The oceans are now saturated with microplastics, which have indirect repercussions on human health. Indeed, these microparticles are ingested by the marine species we consume, meaning they eventually end up in our own stomachs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key figures:<\/strong> It is estimated that between 9 and 14 million tonnes <\/strong>Every year, 17 tons of plastic waste are dumped into the ocean; that's 321,300 tons every minute. This waste ends up in nature, particularly in the ocean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faced with this pressing threat, it is imperative to take action. Together, we have the power to preserve the natural wonders of Biscarrosse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Participation in waste collection: We regularly participate in beach clean-up operations organized by the SeaCleaners, mobilizing our team to preserve our coastal environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Raising awareness among our customers: We inform and raise awareness among our customers about the dangers of plastic pollution and encourage them to adopt responsible behaviors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Eco-friendly game in our shop and snack bar: We offer an eco-friendly game in our shop and snack bar, highlighting environmentally friendly brands and products. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Recycling bins: We provide recycling bins in our surf school to encourage recycling and the reduction of plastic waste. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
